Commonwealth Games

One of our proudest moments as an emerging brand in South East Queensland was our involvement with the furniture styling within the VIP Media spaces at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.  Held in April of 2018 in our own backyard, the Gold Coast, the city was on show to the rest of the world.

The Star Casino, Broadbeach was the main hub for the Media, and had everyone staying there from TV presenters, Sports Broadcasters, Radio hosts and Journalists. Working together with various stakeholders of the Commonwealth Games organisation committee, as well as local event extraordinaries Coastal Productions we relished in the opportunity. Our job – transform various sections of the hotel’s event spaces into an entertainment precinct in which VIP guests could relax, unwind and enjoy watching world class sport in style and high definition – mission achieved.

Area one – The Wine Bar. The Brief – an endearing blend of “Late night luxe” with “Tropical tranquillity”.

To create this look we knew our furniture pieces had to encompass the very meaning of luxe – think marble, gold and velvet. These three words formed the very foundation for the furniture items used in this space, alongside the lush tropical set design by the team at Coastal Productions. A free-flowing lounge area was created with a mixture of our striking black Kenzo lounges paired perfectly with our Madison dining chairs and mixed ottomans in shades of navy and peacock. The introduction of the colour through the chairs and ottomans softened the colour palette, and the glowing gold Dalton coffee tables added a touch of glam.

Area two – The Dining Precinct. The Brief – A lush culinary escape.

Building on the opulent tropics of The Wine Bar, we needed to create a luxurious dining space for the service of various cuisines. Using our striking Hairpin tables in blackwash standing alongside a sea of gold arrowe chairs the dining space sparkled. The use of arbours, ice-cream bikes and flower carts for the service of food and drink perfectly incorporated each cuisine.

Area three – The Lounge. The Brief – Gold Coast resort lifestyle.

The third space we styled could not have been more different. This space needed to exude a beachy relaxed vibe with resort like features. To lighten the room and instantly add warmth we chose a colour palette of white, ocean blues and natural wood tones. For the lounge areas we used our Sorrento armchairs and modular sofas to create large communal seating areas where guests could comfortably mingle and socialise. The natural wood from the Scandi bar tables and stools, alongside an abundance of fresh flowers and extravagant plants from the team at Stem Designs, helped bring an earthy organic feel to the space.

These interiors were just some of the many event spaces we were fortunate enough to style for the Commonwealth Games and we could not have been prouder of our team.
